DT Inspiration - Wonky Stripes stencil

Happy Wednesday to you ......

Is it really the middle of the week already!
It's Linda here, with my first Stencil DT Inspiration post for you.  I'm thrilled to be part of the Uniko Team and it's a pleasure to be posting on the blog today.

I've got a really quick and easy design for you, using the fabulous Wonky Stripes stencil along with some Distress Oxide inks

This design is so much fun to use .... creates great backgrounds but, I think it's also a fab design to be the focal point on your cards too.  Change the colours of the inks and you'll get a totally different look each time. Kids will love the bright colours, but go more neutral and you could use it for all those 'hard to make cards for' men!

I've gone with  rainbow colours for my card .... bright and cheery.   Brushed straight through the whole of the stencil, which by the way is a great size ..... 6x6 inches.  I've used the whole design here on a 7x7 card, but you could easily cut it down if you wanted it smaller .... save the poeces for something else!

I simply added a die cut word to the front, layered a couple of times for dimension

And finished off by adding in a few dots of the Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops.  I love how the different colours of the stripes show through the glitter drops, making them match the stripes that they're on perfectly

For the inside I've used the rainbow colours again to ink up the 'birthday' from the brand new Birthday Sentiments

and completed my greeting using some of the smaller words from the same stamp set.

I hope you've enjoyed my first DT post and that you feel inspired to use your stencils.
Thanks for stopping by .... have a great day

CAS Colours & Sketches #263 - Sketch

This month our hostess is Fiona and she started things off with a fun colour combo last week and HERE this week has this super sketch to inspire your CAS card making...

So many wonderful ideas sprung to mind when I sat down to create my card, this sketch has so many options. However, this is how I decided to use it...

I decided to make a one layer card and I also wanted to join in on the current challenge over at AAA Cards HERE, who's current challenge is ombré.

Life is a Song is one of the February 2018 Release clear stamp sets that I didn't give much inky love to, so I thought I would use it. I used my MISTI to stamp the ombré diagonal lines in opposing corners and also to stamp the ombré music sentiment.

Super simple from me today, but I hope I have inspired you to join in on the challenge?! If you need a little more inspiration, pop on over HERE to see what the CC&S Design Team have created.

Thanks for stopping by!

DT Inspiration - Ombre

Hi there! It's Jane here today to share some cards I made using Uniko goodies and ombre colours.

We've an ombre challenge going on right now at AAA Cards and both my DT cards make use of my Uniko stash and this is what gave me the idea to create some more to share here on the Uniko blog.

This card uses Background Blocks Wonky Stripes and I Love Tea stamp sets. I heat embossed the stripes and tea cup and coloured them using four shades of brown. I then stamped and heat embossed the flower onto the tea cup. I tried stamping first and then colouring the tea cup, but it got a bit messy with the palest tone, probably there were was the odd bit of embossing powder that hadn't melted.

I'm thinking  this colour scheme would also work well with the I Love Coffee stamps too.

Stamps: Uniko, Background Blocks Wonky Stripes, I Love Tea
Inks: Versafine clear + Ranger superfine back embossing powder
Pens: Copic, E51, E55, E57, E59

I've picked my favourite balloon from Balloon Bash for my next card and used a bit of masking to create a group of three.

I achieved the ombre effect by using my misti tool and repeatedly stamping each balloon with the ink applied to less parts of the stamp each time.Although there is a choice of two styles of string in this set, I actually drew the strings by hand as I wanted them to tuck in behind where I was going to add the sentiment.

The sentiment is from Birthday Sentiments and I heat embossed it and raised it on foam pads for added dimension.

Stamps: Uniko, Balloon Bash, Birthday Sentiments
Inks: Versafine clear + Ranger superfine black embossing powder; Ranger ditress oxide, candied apple

My third card uses white embossing powder and the Background Blocks Stars and Reach for the Stars stamp sets.

Once I'd stamped and heat embossed the Background Block I then inked over the top with distress ink starting from the bottom and swiping up the card to achieve the ombre effect. I also gradually inked less far up the card with each re-inking of the blending pad. I wiped over the top gently with a tissue tro remove any excess ink from the embossed stars.

The sentiment was also stamped and heat embossed in white glitter embossing powder.

Stamps: Uniko, Background Blocks Stars, Reach for the Stars
Ink: Versamark clear + WOW! sparkling snow embossing powder

My final card uses very simple grayscale ombre colours and the very gorgeous Pure Florals: Lily stamps.

I started by placing a home made circle stencil over the card base and then inked through it with black soot distress ink. I masked off a section using a scrap of paper before applying a second layer. I then moved this mask down for a third layer and repeated this for the fourth layer.

I stamped the lily over the ombre circle and added a sentiment and some gems to finish off.

Stamps: Uniko, Pure Florals: Lily
Inks: Ranger distress, black soot; Memento, tuxedo black
Embellishments: Bling Bling, black gem stones

That's me all done for today's post. I really hope I may have inspired you to have a go at ombre colours. Thanks so much for looking and keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #262 - Colours

A new month means a new hostess and Fiona is our hostess for March. As usual we are starting things off HERE with a colour combo...

Well, I admit this colour combo totally stumped me! I really struggle with purples and yellows and the added lime green just added to the lack of creative inspiration. When I have times like this I look through my stamps to see if I am inspired and how I can use the colours easily.

This is what I came up with...

An ultra CAS card using the new Kindness Blooms loopy flower and a sentiment (wonky) from Simply Said Blocks.

I simply stamped the flower onto my white card base and coloured various loops in with Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist Stampin' Up! markers. I then added a enamel dot to the closest match of Crushed Curry to the flower centre. The sentiment is stamped, fussy cut and adhered (wonky) to the card base using foam adhesive.

That's all from me today, I hope thatI have inspired you (a tiny bit) to join in on the challenge?! If you need a little more inspiration, pop on over HERE to see what the CC&S Design Team have created.

Thanks for stopping by!
